Spiritual Father’s of Worship

 

There are probably two men in my life in addition to my mother that made a tremendous impact on my life as it relates to worship, Decker Tapscott Sr and Ricardo White. I will take the next couple of weeks in introducing to you as best as I can, the profoundness of the impacts these men as well as other spiritual father’s and mothers who have made a significant impact on my life. I will also share with you what I believe is absolutely on the heart of God as it relates to this topic of “Spiritual Fathering” for both the present and future generations. I will first start off with Ricardo White.

Ricardo White is a very gifted, psalmist, minstrel, songwriter, composer, singer, director, praiser and worshipper of Jesus Christ. I was blessed to serve under his directorship as a musician while serving as part of the worship team. Although he never personally trained me in the area of “playing” the piano, his lifestyle and standard of intimacy, dedicated-ness and devotion revealed for me the value of brokenness, purity and humility as precious disciplines needed to sustain a “sensitive and yielded” heart when one desires to engage in intimacy and worship with the Lord. Through this I received an incredible deposit of grace and mercy that in many ways I still don’t quit understand even until this day.

Ricardo has a heart for youth and young adults that have allowed him to become a great instrument of God’s grace for the younger generation, in terms of drawing our youth into the innermost places of God’s heart in worship.
